No World Without You

Terry Kelleher - 1999

I was in San Diego for a few days, and decided to head inland until I was far from the city, in the mountain desert. The landscape was beautiful, and very different from that of my home in the Finger Lakes of New York. When I later described the sites to Diane, I realized that the sharing with her was by far more enjoyable than the being there had been.

Sitting here in California, three thousand miles from home
I see your face on a distant hillside and I am not alone.
I hear your voice on the radio and in the trickling of a brook.
You're in the wind upon my face. You're every where I look.

/ C - Am - / G - F C//

This world had been an empty place before I knew of you.
This song would be a silent void without you in the tune.
The sky would be a coat of gray without your eyes of blue.
You make my life a joyful time. There's no world without you.

/ G - F C // F - C Am / F C G C /

And when I return back home again you greet me with a smile.
We talk about the things I've seen and all the lonely miles.
You tell me of the things I missed. You show me how you care.
I'm thankful for this time with you and for the love we share.

Each happy moment that I have seems better with you there.
The pain and hurt I suffer is lessened by your care.
Each sunset that we share together, more brilliant in your gaze.
Each morning that I rise with you brings forth a brighter day.
